Jay Deal Memorial Fundraiser
Jay Deal Memorial Fundraiser
Jay Deal Memorial Fund to help with family expense due to his untimely passing.
Jay Robert Deal of Round Rock, TX passed away unexpectedly at the age of 52 while hiking, an activity he loved, at Colorado Bend State Park on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Jay was born on August 6, 1966 in San Marcos, TX to Delores Jane Nelson and Gerald Roger Deal. He married Darla Skavlem in 1987, and they welcomed four children into their home. His children remember him as a loving, funny, and dependable father. He brought so much light to their lives and always encouraged them to become the best versions of themselves.
Jay was a partner with his brother Jerry at Way To Go Media, a film development and production company. He had been with the company nine years and was in charge of all marketing and online activity, as well as one of the producers on their film projects. A problem solver by nature and a dreamer by design, Jay always had the drive to be ahead of the game, no matter which one he is working at or playing. His creative spirit and technological wizardry will be sorely missed.
Jay is survived by his wife Darla Deal of Round Rock, TX; children Hannah Deal, Kailah Davis, her husband Greg, Josiah Deal, and Jordan Deal; siblings Jerry Alden Deal, wife Berry of Mount Shasta, CA, Jim Deal and wife Debbie of Phoenix, AZ, Joel Deal and wife Michelle of San Antonio, TX and Julie Van Groll and husband Alan of Killeen, TX, Denee Ibert and husband Robert of Katy, TX; mother Delores Nelson of Georgetown, TX.
He is preceded in death by his father Gerald Roger Deal of San Marcos, TX; stepfather Harry Nelson of Georgetown, TX; brothers Jeffrey Deal of San Antonio, TX, Jonathan Deal of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and grandmother Helen Deal of San Antonio, TX.
A Celebration of Life event is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, Noon-4pm at Two Wishes Ranch in Lockhart, TX. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jay’s life.
The family would like to thank the paramedics, the park personnel, and fellow hikers for all their efforts. In lieu of flowers, please help someone who needs your help. Jay would have a smile for you.
